Always wanted to play the piano? Interested in piano lessons for your children or for yourself?

Come out to West Virginia University’s Creative Arts Center and find out more about pianos and piano study at a fun, informal “PianoFest” for kids and adults, Saturday, (Jan. 29).

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the CAC main lobby and is free and open to the public.

Piano enthusiasts will have a chance to talk with WVU piano technician Tim Richards, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

In addition, they’ll hear WVU’s finest college pianists, playing exciting jazz and classical works and a thrilling version of the famous opera “Carmen,” arranged for eight hands.

Piano teachers from the WVU Community Music Program and the College of Creative Arts will also speak with participants, and attendees will have the opportunity to sign up for special Introductory six-week piano classes and lessons, for ages 5 to adult.

Plus, there will be a one-of-a-kind piano “Petting Zoo” for kids.

PianoFest 2011 is sponsored by the WVU Division of Music and the collegiate chapter of the Music Teachers National Association.
