Those who don the gold and blue always support their communities. When a group of West Virginia University students started The House That WVU Built—a project for the Habitat for Humanity—alumni and friends of the University Chapter of WVU alumni jumped at the chance to support this great effort.
On Sat. (Jan. 29) the chapter will host a fundraiser for the Habitat home. Mountaineers will gather at Chic-n-Bones Rhythm Caf beginning at 7:30 p.m. to cheer the WVU men’s team to victory over Cincinnati while supporting this great cause. The event will feature raffle prizes, including a Bob Huggins autographed Big East basketball, an alumni gift package valued at nearly $1,000, tickets to the WVU-Pitt home game, and much more. The chapter will also be accepting $5 donations, which will entitle guests to drink specials and light appetizers.
“This is a great opportunity for all of us to give back to community,” said Casey Quinlan, president of the University Chapter. “This project was started by a group of WVU students and, as alumni and friends, this is our way to show our support, while bringing everyone together for a fun evening of basketball, food and great prizes. We hope everyone will join us in our efforts.”
All proceeds from the game watch/fundraiser benefit the Monongalia County Habitat for Humanity’s “The House That WVU Built.” For more information about this project, visit the Facebook page.
