The world-famous Vienna Boys Choir will bring ””Christmas in Vienna””:http://events.wvu.edu/uas/10-11/vienna/index.shtml to the WVU Creative Arts Center on Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now at the Mountainlair and CAC box offices, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at 304-293-SHOW.

An internationally recognized symbol of both Vienna and musical aptitude, the Vienna Boys Choir has been charming crowds for more than 500 years. The Choir’s rich blend of trebles and altos creates a sound that will transport the audience to a charming “Christmas in Vienna” this holiday season. The Choir comprises four touring choirs that perform approximately 300 concerts each year, allowing them to visit all of Europe, plus Asia, Australia and the Americas.

“We do not claim to play ‘authentic’ world music; we create something from the original sources that is our own,” says Artistic Director Gerald Wirth. “We want to be faithful to the source in the sense that we treat it with respect.”

With more than five centuries of vigorous musical study to its credit, the Vienna Boys Choir’s music has spanned time, geography and the gaps of human difference with more ease than one could ever imagine. The Choir boasts a repertoire crossing virtually all genres: from its traditional choral works to experimental and contemporary pop songs. The Choir has recorded in a variety of languages, including Arabic, Maori, Uzbek, German, French and Farsi.
