West Virginia University Dance Team senior Leah Show has been chosen by Athlon Sports to compete in their online “Sideline Spirit” competition.

The WVU community is invited to vote for Show, a fashion merchandising major from Uniontown, Pa., online at http://spirit.athlonsports.com/.

Voters do not have to be WVU students; anyone can vote online up to 10 times per day.

The competition is set up as an online bracket with two contestants competing against each other each round. The winner of each round, based on the amount of votes, will advance to the next round.

The first round of the competition takes place Nov. 4-15. Ironically, Show will be competing against her first opponent, from the University of Cincinnati, during the same time the two football teams play each other. WVU plays Cincinnati on Saturday, Nov. 13.

Former WVU cheerleader, Andrea Bianchi, won the competition in 2004 proving that Mountaineer nation is more than capable of voting a lot and often. Show says she is “proud to represent WVU” and “hopes to win with the support of her fellow Mountaineers.”

Although this is the first time the WVU Dance Team has had a member as a competitor in this contest, they are not a stranger to winning.

The team competes yearly in the National Dance Alliance national collegiate competition in Daytona Beach, Fl. In 2008 they won second place, placed third in 2009, and this past year took home the National Championship title beating out 13 other Division 1 schools.
