Spring Awakening social issues to the forefront of human interest in the form of a commanding rock musical at the West Virginia University Creative Arts Center on Monday, Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and may be purchased at the WVU Mountainlair and Creative Arts Center box offices, online at ticketmaster.com, or by phone at 304-293-SHOW or 800-745-3000.

This progressive rock-drama brings forth some of the most powerful energy devoted to the inner turmoil and societal issues inherent to adolescence. The performance confronts the taboo subjects of sex, abuse and dangerous ignorance in a whirlwind coming-of-age drama that leaves audiences breathless and spellbound. The captivating drama is carried along by the award-winning soundtrack created by Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater, including sensual tunes “Touch Me” and “The Dark I Know Well.”

Originally adapted from an 1891 German play of the same name, this stunning performance has won a plethora of distinctive awards, including multiple Tony Awards, Olivier Awards, Drama League Awards, Drama Desk Awards and a Grammy for Best Musical Show Album. It is with great caution and expertise that the characters in this play carefully navigate through the unseen chaos of teenage life, illuminating the most compelling facets of adolescent morals and disputes.

This show features nudity, sexual content and strong language and is not recommended for children under 17.

Tickets are on sale now at the Mountainlair and Creative Arts Center box offices. Ticket prices range from $42 to $52, depending on seat location.
