When filmmaker Joe Wilson announced his wedding to another man, he was met with a rash of controversy.

On Thursday (Oct. 14) West Virginia University will show a documentary on Wilson’s struggles. “Out in the Silence,” released in 2009, will be shown at 11:30 a.m. in the Gluck Theater.

The Brownbag Lunch Film and Discussion Series presentation is in honor of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender History Month. The film will be presented by John Hagan, co-chair of the WVU Council on Sexual Orientation; T. Anne Hawkins of the WVU Carruth Center for Psychological and Psychiatric Services; and Shelly Barrick Parsons of the Campus Ministry Center of WVU.

The event, sponsored by the WVU Office of Student Life- Multicultural Programs, is free and open to the public. Pizza will be served on a first-come, first-serve basis.
