Director of Housing and University Apartments Corey Farris will temporarily assume additional duties as West Virginia University’s dean of students, Vice President for Student Affairs Ken Gray announced Friday (Aug. 20).

Under a reorganization within the Division of Student Affairs, current Associate Vice President of Student Affairs/Dean of Students David Stewart will be charged with new duties related to international and global outreach initiatives, effective Sept. 1.

“Corey Farris is someone many of our students and parents know and trust because of his long association with WVU,” Gray said. “He has worked with orientation, residential education, student conduct and other Student Affairs areas, and is the natural person to take on this interim role as we transition duties and responsibilities within our division.”

He added, “Dr. Stewart’s new role reflects the University’s goal of enhancing our international student recruitment and alumni outreach efforts.”

Other duties associated with Dr. Stewart’s position will be shared among associate and assistant vice presidents while a decision is made about filling the position on a permanent basis, Gray said.
