West Virginia University Safety and Health Extension Service is offering U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration classes in West Virginia.

On Aug. 3-6, OSHA course #511, “Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry” will be offered in Charleston. The four-day course is designed for personnel in the private sector and covers OSHA policies, procedures, and standards, as well as general industry safety and health principles.

It also speaks to the scope and application of the OSHA general industry standards with a special emphasis placed on the areas which are most hazardous.

On Aug. 24-27, the OSHA course #501, “Trainer Courses for General Industry,” will be offered in Morgantown.

The four-day course is designed for personnel in the private sector interested in teaching the 10- and 30-hour general industry safety and health outreach program to their employees and other interested groups. The course will cover topics that include OSHA construction standards, policies and regulations.

Seating is limited and preregistration is required two weeks prior to the course start date. For priority registration, please sign up by Tuesday, July 20 for the Charleston class or by Tuesday, Aug. 10 for the Morgantown class. Tuition is $750 a person.

Customized group training sessions are also available on a contractual basis for employers wishing to train their workforce.
