West Virginia University philosophy and mathematics student Meghan Flinn is one of 83 students across the country being honored by GEICO insurance company with a GEICO Achievement Award.

Flinn, a senior from Oakland, Md., will receive $1,000 to put towards her education at WVU.

The awards are given to students who have excelled in academic areas of business, computer science, mathematics or a related program, and have demonstrated leadership on their campus or within their community.

To qualify for the award, students must also be of sophomore or junior status at an accredited four-year college or university and possess a 3.0 GPA overall at the time of application.
