A celebration of the WVU Stroke Center earning Primary Stroke Center re-certification from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, and the Stroke Silver Performance Achievement Award from the national American Heart Association.

WHY:
Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the U.S., and a leading cause of disability. In 2009, WVU cared for about 800 stroke patients from throughout West Virginia and surrounding states. The WVU Stroke Center must meet rigorous standards to qualify for the Joint Commission designation and AHA award.
