Seven candidates for dean of the College of Business and Economics at West Virginia University will visit campus for interviews and public forums beginning Monday, April 12.

“While each candidate has a unique background, each has demonstrated the vision, talent, and judgment necessary for effective leadership,” said Joyce McConnell, chair of the search committee and dean of the College of Law. “It is my great privilege to play a role in bringing these exceptional candidates to campus and to assist in selecting a key member of the University leadership team.”

Visits will take place between Monday, April 12 and Thursday, April 15. Students, faculty, staff, members of the Business and Economics Board of Advisors, and the Morgantown business community are invited to meet the candidates. During these open sessions, the candidates will introduce themselves and audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions.

“We are fortunate to have attracted such a high number of remarkable candidates interested in leading the college,” said Michele Wheatly, provost and vice president for academic affairs. “I am looking forward to sitting down with each one and having them share their vision for the college, especially in light of the fact that we have just kicked off our strategic planning process.”

Dean McConnell also praised the work of the committee.

“The B&E Dean Search Committee members are among the most dedicated and talented faculty members, administrators, staff and advisors with whom I have engaged on a task as important as the search for a new dean,” she said. “They have worked tirelessly to identify and recruit impressive candidates to campus.”
