The West Virginia University men’s basketball team enjoyed a “sweet” victory over the Washington Huskies Thursday night, and is now headed to the Elite Eight regional final on Saturday, March 27, against Kentucky, which defeated Cornell to advance.

Alumni and fans headed to the game are invited to a “Mountaineer Meet and Greet” in Syracuse prior to the game. The event, hosted by the WVU Alumni Association, will take place at Daisy Duke’s at Armory Square (414 S. Clinton St.) and will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday, four hours prior to tipoff.

“Our pre-game events are a wonderful way to bring our Mountaineer family together as we prepare to cheer our team to victory and secure our place as a Final Four team,” said Steve Douglas, president of the WVU Alumni Association. “Alumni and fans are excited and supportive of Coach Huggins and his team, and we anticipate a large gathering of the Mountaineer faithful for this Elite Eight event.”

The meet and greet is free and open to the public. Fans can enjoy WVU camraderie, music, and food/drink concessions. Parking is available nearby and shuttle buses will run from Armory Square to the Carrier Dome for the games.

If you aren’t headed north for the game, be sure to follow Douglas on Twitter to be part of the festivities. You can follow him @WVUSteveDouglas.
