Everyone is invited to come out to the Creative Arts Center on Thursday, March 25 to draw their face – or the face of a friend, pet or anything else creative – on a $100 bill to help end childhood lead poisoning.

The WVU student chapter of the National Art Education Association, the College of Creative Arts and the Division of Art and Design are hosting this event as part of the national Fundred Dollar Bill project.

Completed artwork will be sent to Washington, D.C., where coordinators of the project hope to collect at least three million Fundred dollar bills _ $300 million is the estimated cost of making the soil in New Orleans lead-safe, especially for children, following the devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina.

Lead-contaminated soil currently places children at risk for severe learning disabilities and behavioral problems.

To complete your Fundred dollar bill, come to the CAC lobby near the entrance of the Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on March 25.

The Creative Arts Center is an official Collection Center, serving as a repository for Fundred Dollar Bills created in the region. WVU art students have already created their Fundreds for the project, and hope to receive at least 7,000 others from community members.

A truck that is currently crossing the country to pick up the bills from Collection Centers is scheduled to stop at the CAC on March 29 to receive area-created Fundred Dollar Bills.

The Division of Art and Design would like to invite all schools, community centers, organizations, and individuals to participate in the project and send their bills to: Victoria Fergus, Division of Art and Design, P.O. Box 6111, WVU Creative Arts Center, Morgantown, WV 26506-6111.

Visit fundred.org for more information and to download and print the Fundred template.
