The Environmental Research Center in the West Virginia University Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design is hosting an environmental forum from 3 – 5 pm on Tuesday, Dec. 15, in room 101 A and B of the National Research Center for Coal and Energy on WVU’s Evansdale Campus.

“This event is designed to stimulate formal and informal discussion concerning interdisciplinary research, teaching, and outreach opportunities in all aspects of environmental studies,” said Jim Anderson, professor of wildlife and fisheries resources and the director of the ERC.

The ERC was established through a $1.7 million appropriation from the United States National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. To address issues of environmental impact and economic development in the mid-Atlantic Highlands region, ERC participants plan to develop an interdisciplinary environmental research program with an emphasis on watersheds, sustainability, environmental restoration, biodiversity, energy and rural development.

A short formal presentation about ERC goals and how researchers, communities and industry can become involved will begin at 3:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Anyone with an interest in the environment is welcome to attend. Please RSVP to Amanda White (Amanda.White@mail.wvu.edu) by Dec. 11. For additional information please contact Anderson at jim.anderson@mail.wvu.edu or (304) 293-3825.
