WE Car came to Sunnyside Friday, November 20th. This new location makes a total of five energy-efficient WE Cars on West Virginia University’s campuses.

The newest vehicle in the WE Car fleet is sponsored by the Sunnyside Up organization.

“We are very excited about the implementation of the WE Car in Sunnyside and support the overall use of alternative forms of transportation at the university,” said Jim Hunt, the executive director for Sunnyside Up. Sunnyside Up efforts are aimed at improving the infrastructure of the Sunnyside neighborhood and include everything from repairing sidewalks to renovating houses of the area.

The WE Car will be parked in the Short-term 5 parking lot at Grant & 1st Street across from the new Honors Hall. This new location will offer a more convenient way for car-less students living in the Sunnyside area to rent a car on a short-term basis.

“A huge segment of students live in and around the Sunnyside area, so having this new eco-friendly rental car in the neighborhood will help our efforts in improving Sunnyside one step at a time,” Hunt further explained.

People can apply for WE Car membership or reserve this car through the Transportation and Parking’s website just like the other WE Cars on campus.
