West Virginia University 4-H Extension Agent Mark Whitt is a leader in all-terrain vehicle safety. Based in the Mingo County WVU Extension Office, Whitt creates curriculum and awareness programs to educate families and youths on safety measures for riding ATVs.

Whitt helped create the first national 4-H youth curriculum for ATV safety and continues to provide research, education and service to the people of West Virginia.

He is the former executive director for the Hatfield-McCoy Regional Recreation Authority. The Hatfield-McCoy Trail System covers more than 500 miles of off-road trails in nine West Virginia counties. Each of the trails opens 365 days a year to ATVs, dirt bikes and utility vehicles.
