Scenes from famous operas that are about “Sorrow and Happiness” will be presented by WVU Opera Theatre during “Opera Scenes,” through Nov. 14.

Directed by Robert Thieme, who is head of WVU opera program, performances in the Antoinette Falbo Theatre begin at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 13, and 3:15 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 14.

The students will perform songs from: “The Magic Flute,” “Idomeneo,” and “The Marriage of Figaro” by Wolfgang A. Mozart; “La Traviata” by Giuseppi Verdi; “Tartuffe” by Kirke Mechem; “The Consul” by Gian Carlo Menotti; and “Candide” by Leonard Bernstein.

Students performing include Daniel Ferguson, Mike Simpson, Maureen Seymour, Kelsey Pierce, Sarah Plata, Karina Sweeney, Cassia King, Maria Mahe, Jarrell Strickland, Joshua Stubbs, Sarah Nale, Justin Barclay, MaryJoanna Grisso, Marissa Bloom, Carol Womack, Jeanne Nestor, Nathan Costella, and Dennis Gallagher.
