A West Virginia University student was critically injured early Saturday morning (Nov. 7) in a fight that involved as many as 10 males.

Morgantown Police say the fight occurred at 3:10 a.m. Saturday at the Dairy Mart parking lot at 600 Willey St. Witnesses said five to seven males attacked three males, one of whom was unconscious when police arrived.

He was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital, where he has remained in critical condition. Representatives from WVU Student Affairs have been with the family. Student Affairs has also been offering counseling to other victims of the fight, as well as friends and family.

Morgantown Police say a video shows several individuals in the area at the time of the fight and they are asking these persons to voluntarily contact the department’s Detective Division (304-284-7454).

West Virginia University Police are cooperating in the investigation. Additionally, the University Police web site contains several resources with advice on conflict and violence avoidance.
