The Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center at WVU will offer free clinical breast exams Monday (Oct. 19) from 4-8 p.m., in observance of breast cancer awareness month.

“Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women, but more women are beating the disease due to early detection and improved treatment,” said Jame Abraham, M.D., director of the Comprehensive Breast Cancer Program at WVU. “A clinical breast exam can be very helpful in determining if there are any breast health concerns and if a screening test is warranted.”

Breast imaging at the Betty Puskar Breast Care Center will not be available the evening of the exams. Appointments will be made that week for patients who need follow-up mammograms or ultrasounds. The mammograms and ultrasounds are not free, but billing to third-parties is provided. Women who lack insurance may be matched to government or nonprofit charities.

Registration is required for the free clinical breast exams. Please call 304-598-4000, ext.75429, to register.
