Dr. Joe Donovan, an associate professor in the Department of Geology and Geography, is an expert source for news stories involving the chemistry and hyrdology of underground mine water and its potential impact.

Dr. Donovan is also director of Hydrogeology Research Center, a joint effort between the Eberly College of Arts and Science and the WV Water Research Institute, both on the WVU campus in Morgantown. The Center focuses on applied water research problems related to mining, water availability, or groundwater contamination within West Virginia and the mid-Appalachian region.
