WVU President James P. Clements will give his first State of the University address at 3:15 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12 at the National Research Center for Coal and Energy on the school’s Evansdale campus.

The University community and public are invited to attend or watch a webcast at: http://webcast.wvu.edu/

Dr. Clements will discuss a collective vision for the University and its future, as the institution embarks on a strategic plan that is both long-term and adaptable – preparing the University for a challenging, rapidly changing and opportunity-rich future.

In preparation for the address, Dr. Clements sought input from students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, government representatives and all major stakeholders on the major questions, opportunities and demands of the next decade.

The request generated approximately 600 responses. In addition, the president has listened to and had conversations with individuals and groups across the University and region.

Some emerging themes have developed, and those will be part of what he presents at the Oct. 12 forum.

A Faculty Senate meeting will follow.
