As West Virginia University’s 2010 strategic plan nears its conclusive year, President James P. Clements is seeking input from faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors, friends, opinion leaders and other state residents for formulating a new vision for 2020 and beyond.

He announced those efforts Monday (Sept. 14) at a monthly Faculty Senate meeting on campus.

“I have done a lot of listening these past several months,” Dr. Clements said. “People love this University and have a lot of excitement about the future. It’s a great time to think about what we want to be and where we want to go as a University.”

He added, “What are some of the challenges, opportunities and successes to build upon? What are the national and world issues we need to address? I want to hear from as many people as possible.”

To gather feedback quickly and efficiently, President Clements has a 10-question online survey, housed on his Web site: http://president.wvu.edu/. No ID or password is required; simply fill out the form online and submit.

“Please share your thoughts, ideas and strategies with me over the coming weeks,” Clements said.

WVU’s Board of Governors approved the 2010 plan, “Building the Foundation for Academic Excellence,” in September 2005, with five primary goals: Attract and Graduate High-Quality Students; Recruit and Retain High-Quality Faculty Committed to the Land-Grant Mission; Enhance the Educational Environment for Student Learning; Promote Discovery and Exchange of Knowledge and Ideas; and Improve West Virginia’s Health, Economy and Quality of Life.
