The University Chapter of the West Virginia University Alumni Association will host its sixth annual Countdown to Kickoff on Sunday, August 30, from 5-8 p.m. at the Erickson Alumni Center.

The event will be held the Sunday prior to the first game of the season and features appearances by Mountaineer Mascot Rebecca Durst, the WVU Pep Band, cheerleaders, and coaches. The alumni chapter will also host its inaugural corn hole tournament.

“Our Countdown to Kickoff is a great event for Mountaineer families,” said Casey Quinlan, University Chapter president. “We will have great food, fun games, prizes, and a wonderful atmosphere to celebrate our alma mater. We hope alumni and friends in the area will bring their kids, friends and other family members to the new alumni center as we celebrate the upcoming season.”

The cost for the event is $15 for advance tickets and $20 at the door. Admission is free for children five and under; for those ages 6-17, admission is $10. The cost includes food, beverages, raffles, a silent auction and games. A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit the chapter’s scholarship fund.
