MORGANTOWN , W.Va.The West Virginia University Community Arts Program will begin registering students next week for fall classes at the Creative Arts Center . Registration for classes in music, art, theatre and dance for students of all ages will be held on Aug. 17-Sept. 4.
The program offers private music lessons in piano, organ, strings, Suzuki violin, woodwinds, brass, percussion, voice, harp, guitar, jazz singing, jazz piano, jazz improvisation, theory and composition, and recording technology. Private lessons in art, dance, theatre and media arts are also available upon request, depending on teacher availability.

Young Peoples Saturday Art Studio (ages 5-7 and 8-10); Drawing Fun for Kids (ages 7-12); Classical Drawing Fundamentals (ages 13 to adult); Beginning Painting (ages 7-12 and 13 to adult); Basket Weaving for Beginners (ages 10 to adult); and Introduction to Digital Photography (ages 13 to adult)
Theatre
Creative Writing for Beginners: An Introduction to Poetry, Fiction and Non-fiction (high school to adult); Childrens Theatre Production:The Jungle Book(ages 7-15). Students in this two-semester course will appear in public performances of the playThe Jungle Book,to be held during the spring semester.
Dance
Ballet (ages 3-4, 5-7 and 8-12); Beginning Ballet for Teens; Dance for the Young (ages 3-4); Creative/Modern Dance (ages 5-7); Beginning Tap Dance (ages 4-6 and 7-12); Beginning Tap Dance and Technique for Teens; Beginning Tap Dance for Adults; Ballroom Dancing for Adults; Belly Dancing (ages 13 to adult); and Fitness Fan Dance (ages 10 to adult).

The WVU Center for Excellence in Disabilities has funding available to sponsor children with disabilities who are interested in participating in Community Arts classes, and who also meet the age and eligibility requirements. The Community Arts Program also offers outreach programs throughout the region and is available to set up an appropriate program to suit the needs of community organizations. In addition, the Community Arts Volunteer Program is a great way for kids to earn community service hours or for those who have a little extra time on their hands to help out.
