West Virginia University Search Committee Chair CurtisHankBarnette today (Aug. 3) announced that Sharon P. Turner, D.D.S., J.D.,the Dean at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry, will visit campus Aug. 9-10 as a Finalist for the Chancellor for WVU Health Sciences.

Open forums with the health sciences community and main campus/community are set for Monday, Aug. 10. Times and locations for these sessions are:

-Aug. 10Open Forum at Health Sciences, Patteson Auditorium, Noon-1 p.m.

-Aug. 10Open Forum for Campus and Community, Erickson Alumni Center, 4-5 p.m.

Dr. Turner earned an undergraduate degree in biology from Winthop College, and a D.D.S. from the University of North Carolina, where she also completed a post doctoral fellowship with the National Institutes of Health in craniofacial pain mechanisms. She earned a J.D. in law from North Carolina Central University.

She has been Dean at UKs College of Dentistry and an attending dentist since October 2003.

Her background also includes serving as Dean at the Oregon Health and Science University School of Dentistry and Associate Dean for Administration and Planning at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry.
