West Virginia University Search Committee Chair CurtisHankBarnette today (July 29) announced that Peter S. Amenta, M.D., Ph.D, Dean of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jerseys (UMDNJ) Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, will visit campus Aug. 4-5 as a Finalist for the Chancellor for
WVU Health Sciences .
Open forums with the health sciences community and main campus/community are set for Wednesday, Aug. 5. Times and locations for these sessions are:
-Aug. 5Open Forum at Health Sciences, Patteson Auditorium, Noon-1 p.m.
-Aug. 5Open Forum for Campus and Community, Erickson Alumni Center, 4 p.m.
Dr. Amenta earned a bachelors degree from Trinity College, and P.A., M.S. and Ph.D. in anatomy from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia. He has been Dean at UMDNJ since October 2008 and Interim Dean since April 2006. He is also Professor and Chairman of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and a member of the Cancer Institute of New Jersey.
His background also includes serving as Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chief of Staff at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Assistant Professor, Department of Pathology, Hahnemann University.
