MORGANTOWN , W.Va.Parking permit sales for West Virginia University employees begin today for the upcoming year. To accommodate the renewal process, there are two renewal options for employees.

For those employees that would like to purchase their permit with a lump-sum payment, go to http://transportation.wvu.edu to pay by credit card. Employees may also visit WVU Parking Management at 3040 University Avenue to pay with cash, check or credit card.

The second renewal option is for employees that currently use the payroll deduction method. These employees will have their permit automatically renewed unless they contact the parking management office by June 26 and opt out of this alternative. Employees using the payroll deduction must have all past citations on their account paid in order to receive the automatic renewal.

If employees are unsure if they have any outstanding citations, review your account status and other information at http://parking.wvu.edu by logging in with your WVU employee Master ID.

Parking permits for fiscal year 20092010 will be sent out through campus mail beginning on July 6 and must be displayed by July 20. Until that time, current permits can continue to be used.

A new feature of the WE GO ! Campaign for alternative transportation is the occasional parker program, which is designed for employees who do not wish to purchase a parking permit but occasionally drive to campus. Those participants will receive 18 one-day parking passes per year for free with additional one-day parking passes available at the parking office for $5 per day.

The occasional parker program is designed for employees who carpool, walk, ride a bicycle and use the Personal Rapid Transit system or Mountain Line buses but need to bring a car to work on an infrequent basis. Parking areas for the occasional parker program are limited to certain lots on all three campuses but not available in the Waterfront area.
