WHAT : Dedication of the WVU Creative Arts Center photography and computer-assisted design (CAD) laboratoriespart of the centers 40th anniversary celebration. The labs will be named in honor of Betsy and Dan Brown, WVU alumni donors.

Highlights will include brief remarks by WVU officials andSimple GiftsandMy Home Among the Hillsperformed by The University Choir under the direction of Kathleen Shannon. The event will also feature a Division of Art faculty exhibition and Mesaros Galleries Bachelor of Fine Arts student exhibition.

College of Creative Arts students and faculty will be on hand in the labs following the dedication ceremony to speak to reporters.

  • BRIEF BIO OF THE BROWNS :* The Browns are native West Virginians who graduated from WVU in 1959. Dan Brown is retired from The Capital Group Companies Inc. in Los Angeles. The couples generous support of WVU has included establishing The Brown Family Faculty Development Fund for the College of Business and Economics and for the Davis School of Agriculture, Forestry and Consumer Sciences. Additional support has included the Dan and Betsy Brown Lecture Series, a guest room at Blaney House and gifts to the Mountaineer Athletic Club and the College of Creative Arts.
  • NOTE :* WVU s CAD lab is unique because it is dedicated to theater scene design only. WVU s photography program offers a broad spectrum of learning opportunities, including traditional silver printing, alternative processes, studio lighting, view camera, mural printing, large-format inkjet printing and digital photography. In June, the photography area will offer the first Jackson Hole Photography Workshop, an annual 10-day intensive workshop in Jackson, Wyo.
