Showcasing the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Centers $22 million expansion and renovation, a week of eventsmost open to the publicincludes Wednesday mornings launch of Bonnies Bus, tours of the new clinic space, and a black-tie gala on Saturday.
The Cancer Centers expansion more than doubles its clinical space, adding more treatment chairs in the infusion center and tripling the amount of space devoted to pharmacy. Now at about 87,000 square feet, the Cancer Center has room for an additional 10,000 square feet of expansion in an atrium still to be built out.
Designed around the concept of multidisciplinary medical teams delivering patient care, the new space also includes a childrens waiting room, a wig boutique and a patient library with internet access.

4 p.m.
James H. Doroshow, M.D., director and senior investigator of the National Cancer Institutes Division of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis, will give the inaugural Hardesty Lecture. The speech, titledThe Role of Clinical Trials in Cancer Care,will be held in the WVU Health Sciences Centers Patteson Auditorium.
Wednesday
10 a.m.
Bonnies Bus offers digital mammography screening to women in Blacksville at the Olive United Methodist Church, first stop on a statewide tour. The 40-foot bus will travel throughout the state, bringing digital mammography to women who live in counties where breast cancer mortality rates are high while access to radiology services may be limited.
4:30 p.m.
J. Michael Ruppert, M.D., Ph.D., will be installed as the Jo and Ben Statler eminent scholar and give a talk titledBreast Cancer Prevention and Treatment: A 15 -year Journey from Cancer Models to Cancer Patients,also in the Patteson Auditorium.

Ribbon cutting will take place at the front entrance of the Cancer Center.
10 a.m.
Five cancer survivors will share their stories followed by aMeet the Doctorsevent held in the Fukushima Auditorium in the HSC Learning Center.

A scientific symposium will be held on cancer research and treatment at the Cancer CenterLeading Innovationat the Fukushima Auditorium and also webcast at http://webcast.wvu.edu/ .

Tours of the new Cancer Center space will be held.

Scot C. Remick, M.D., director of the Cancer Center at WVU , will deliver theState of the Cancer Centeraddress, sharing his vision for the future, in the Fukushima Auditorium.

The 24th Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center Gala will be held at the Erickson Alumni Center Saturday night. Cost is $300 a ticket, and reservations can be made through Tuesdaycall Tammy Whitacre at 304-293-8604. The black-tie gala had previously been held at the Greenbrier.
