Students will have the chance to see a unique view of professional sports when management representatives from the Pittsburgh Steelers and Houston Astros visit West Virginia University Tuesday, April 14.
WVU s College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences is hosting a panel discussion,At the Top: An Inside Look at Professional Sport Organizations,at 6 p.m. in Room 126 of Ming Hsieh Hall on WVU s Downtown Campus. The event is sponsored by the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences and the WVU Sport Management Club.
This first-ever panel discussion will feature professional sport organizations and their upper-level management teams,said Dana Brooks, dean of the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences.These notable leaders within their industry will provide students with an examination of the world of professional sport franchises.
Panel members include Ed Wade, general manager of the Houston Astros; David Gottfried, assistant general manager of the Houston Astros; and John Simpson, marketing manager for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The panel will be moderated by the WVU College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences deans office. Additional potential guests may include representatives from the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The event is free and open to the public. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
