The West Virginia University Wind Symphony, under the direction of John Hendricks III , will perform a spring concert featuring the premiere of a work by West Virginia composer David Williams.
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, in the Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre at the WVU Creative Arts Center.
Williams will conduct the premiere of his composition,And the Marches After Twilight,and first-year WVU saxophone professor Michael Ibrahim will be soloist with the ensemble on a concerto by Karel Husa.
Student Matthew Smith will also conduct on the program, which includesLa Cenerentolaby Gioacchino Rossini, arranged by Larry Daehn; Concertante for Wind Instruments by Norman Dello Joio; Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Concert Band by Karel Husa; andGalop(fromGenevieve de Brabant) by Jacques Offenbach, edited by John Bourgeois.
