WVU Biodiesel Club

April 6th, 2009

West Virginia Universitys Biodiesel Project continues to gain momentum, raising awareness about a renewable fuel source derived from new or used vegetable oil. The oil is readily available at WVU as its collected from dorm cafeterias in bins around campus. Each year, students in the Biodiesel Club invite the public to a demonstration in which they convert the oil into usable fuel. In a lab at WVU s College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, the students use simple chemistry to create biodiesel fuel. The goal of the Project is to acquire a converter to mass produce the fuel and mix it with commercial diesel fuel to power WVU busses.
