As the end of the spring semester nears, West Virginia University and Potomac State College are reminding student loan borrowers who will not be returning to school in the fall to participate in exit loan counseling.

An e-mail will be sent to all spring graduates from WVU s loan servicer, Educational Computer Systems Inc., April 2 requiring completion of exit loan counseling. If the counseling is not done within the specified time frame, a letter from Educational Computer Systems Inc. will then be sent to studentscollege mailing addresses.

After a third notice, students who have not completed the exit counseling requirement will have a hold placed on their University records. The hold prevents students from obtaining transcripts or grades and from registering for classes at WVU .

Repayment of student loans is a serious obligation, so students must complete exit loan counseling even though they may be re-enrolling at West Virginia University (as a graduate or professional student) or transferring to another college or university, said Rebecca Wilkins, financial aid assistant at Potomac State College of WVU .

Students who are not returning to WVU or Potomac State College for the fall term should contact the WVU Office of Student Accounts at ” osa@mail.wvu.edu rel=nofollow> osa@mail.wvu.edu to implement the exit counseling process.
