West Virginia Universitys Division of University Relations recently won three major awards from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education District II for innovative integrated marketing communications.

WVU received the silver award for blogsBlogging Abroad( /fromabroad.blogs.wvu.edu/ ); an honorable mention for individual public relations projectoneWVU( /onewvu.wvu.edu/ ); and an honorable mention for online/CD/DVD projectNewsReal( /newsreal.wvu.edu/ ).

District II includes institutions from Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Ontario, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands and West Virginia.

University Relations consists of seven units ( Creative Services , News and Information Services , Television Productions , Trademark Licensing , Writing and Editing, the Visitors Resource Center , Web Services ) and directs marketing strategy, recruitment marketing, public relations, communications and media relations across the University.

This recognition not only reflects the hard work, vision and talent of many skilled people, but also the energy and direction of the entire university,said Christine Martin, vice president of University Relations.All the new media technologies have offered us a tremendous advantage in telling the story of WVU .

WVU Web Services maintains and supports theBlog AbroadWeb pages and created theoneWVUsite in collaboration with other University Relations units.

Mens soccer coach Marlon LeBlanc createdoneWVU,a campaign that celebrates diversity on campus. The Web site features members of the WVU community, fans and friends of WVU explaining that the only two colors that matter at WVU are gold and blue.

NewsRealis a multimedia production that chronicles stories about WVU s research, academic and athletic successes taken from the front pages and headlines of leading newspapers, magazines and television networks. The video is also available online at /newsreal.wvu.edu/ .

The awards will be presented to University Relations at the Awards Gala during the CASE District II Conference March 22-24 in Baltimore.
