A warrant has been obtained for the arrest of a West Virginia University student in the strong-arm robbery earlier this month on WVU s Downtown Campus, University Police said.
The warrant issued Thursday (Nov. 20) names John Isner, 25, of Elkins, Chief Bob Roberts said.
Isner remains in the North Central Regional Jail, where he was incarcerated following his arrest Tuesday (Nov. 18) by Morgantown police on a separate robbery charge, Roberts said.
A freshman in general studies, Isner was identified by the victim through a photo lineup, he added.
The incident occurred about 6:30 p.m. Nov. 10 on Prospect Street near Stewart Hall.
The victim, a WVU student, reported that a white male about 6 feet 2 inches tall with a thin build stole her purse on Prospect Street near Stewart Hall, police said.
The suspect reportedly approached the victim from behind and tapped her on the shoulder, police said. When she turned around, she was knocked to the ground and her purse was taken by force, police said.
