An executive with CONSOL Energy will give an update on coal-related projects during a Nov. 13 lecture at West Virginia University.

Bart J. Hyita, chief operating officer-coal for CONSOL Energy, will speak onCurrent Projects to Increase Coal Utilizationat 4 p.m. in Room 113 of the Mineral Resources Building on WVU s Evansdale Campus.

His talkwhich is open to the publicis part of the Department of Mining Engineerings William N. Poundstone Lecture Series.

Hyita joined CONSOL Energy in 2001 as vice president of coal operations support. He then served as senior vice president of administration and planning before becoming the chief operating officer-coal.

In addition, Hyita has worked for ScottishPower/PacifiCorp and served as director of business development for RAG American Coal Holding Inc.

He obtained his bachelors degree in mining engineering from the University of Utah with advance certifications in environmental engineering. He has more than 25 years of management experience at both surface and underground operations.

The Department of Mining Engineering established the William N. Poundstone Lecture Series in 2000 to honor the distinguished alumnus of the department and to bring mining industry experts to campus to share their expertise with students and faculty.
