A West Virginia University music faculty member will present a bass recital Tuesday, Sept. 16, at the Creative Arts Center .

The performance by Andrew Kohn will begin at 8:15 p.m. in the Bloch Learning and Performance Hall (Room 200A). He will be joined by pianist Rob Frankenberry, soprano Jennifer Miller and WVU faculty flutist Francesca Arnone .

The recital, which is free and open to the public, will feature poetry and compositions by women. The first half will consist of compositions by Vivian Fine, Betsy Jolas, Elisabeth Lutyens and Isobel Dunlop. The second half is a large work based on poems by Jane Kenyon; Allen Blank composed the piece for Kohn.

Kohn has an artist diploma from the Peabody Conservatory, where he studied with Eugene Levinson, and a doctorate in music theory and composition from the University of Pittsburgh.

He is the former principal bassist of the National Chamber Orchestra and the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra and currently plays in the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and Opera orchestras.
