The West Virginia University Community Arts Program is extending its registration for fall classes at the Creative Arts Center.

The program offers private music lessons in piano, organ, voice, jazz singing, brass, percussion, woodwind, strings, Suzuki violin, harp, guitar, theory and composition, jazz improvisation and conducting. Private lessons in art, dance, theater and media arts are also available upon request, depending on teacher availability.

Community Arts Program classes still available this fall include:

  • Art: SMArt Kids(ages 3-5); Young Peoples Saturday Art Studio (ages 5-7 and 8-10); Mask Making/Puppetry for Kids(ages 5-8); Origami-making&Chinese Paper-cutting(ages 7 to adult); Basket Weaving for Beginners (ages 10 to adult); Introduction to Digital Photography (ages 13 to adult); Calligraphy for Adults.
  • Media Arts: Introduction to Adobe Photoshop (ages 21 and up); Introduction to Digital AnimationAdobe Flash(ages 21 and up); and Introduction to Advertising DesignAdobe Illustrator(ages 21 and up).
  • Theater:The Three Ws(ages 16 to adult). Students will appear in public performances of the musicalThe Three Ws,an adaptation of L. Frank BaumsThe Wizard of Oz,Barbara KarlinsCinderellaand ShakespearesMacbeth.Performances will be Nov. 14-16 at the Creative Arts Center.
  • Dance: Ballet/Creative Movement(ages 5-8); Teen Ballet; Creative Modern Dance (ages 5-7); Beginner/Intermediate Jazz Dance (ages 8-16); Chinese Folkdance Ensemble (ages 8-17); and Yoga 4 Creativity (all ages). Dance classes for adults: Ballroom Dancing and Adult Rhythm and Dance.
  • Music: Explore&Enjoy(ages 2-3); Musicland Express(ages 4-6); Suzuki Violin(ages 4 and up); Beginning Group Piano for Kids(ages 6-9); Introductory Harp Class (all ages); A Star is Born Singing Class (ages 5-8, 9-12 and 13-17); Steel Band Ensemble (ages 9 to adult); Community Arts Orchestra (junior high to adult); Music Theory I (ages 8-12); Music Theory II(ages 13 to adult); Introduction to Standard Piano Literature (ages 12 to adult); Introduction to Recording Technology(ages 15 and up);Adult Voice Class (ages 18 and up); and Piano for Fun (adults of all ages).
