The University Chapter of the West Virginia University Alumni Association will host its fifth annual Countdown to Kickoff featuring WVU Head Football Coach Bill Stewart Sunday, Aug. 24. The event is from 5-7 p.m. at the Erickson Alumni Center (Fine Arts and Patteson Drive).

The Countdown to Kickoff is the Sunday prior to the first game of the season. The event features appearances by WVU coaches, the WVU Pep Band, Mountaineer and cheerleaders.

Everyone across the Mountaineer nation is eagerly awaiting the start of football season,said Courtney Jennings, University Chapter president.The Countdown to Kickoff is a great way for us to celebrate the WVU spirit, while supporting our coaches and players. We are so pleased Coach Stewart will be joining us this year. We look forward to another great event.

The cost for the event is $15 for University Chapter members or $20 for nonmembers. Kids ages 10 and under can attend the event for $5. The cost includes food (hamburgers, hot dogs, sides and beverages), souvenir, silent auction and raffles. A portion of the proceeds from this event benefits the chapters scholarship fund, as well as its commitment to the new alumni center campaign.

The University Chapter of the WVU Alumni Association helps keep WVU alumni and friends connected to their Mountaineer family. Members participate in social activities, such as game-watching events and the annual Countdown to Kickoff, network with other professionals and help the community through special projects such as Habitat for Humanity and Adopt-A-Street.
