Following todays announcement, West Virginia University Board of Governors Chairman Steve Goodwin commended Gov. Joe Manchin on the appointment of Dr. Charles Vest as a new member of the Board.

Dr. Vests ties to Morgantown and the state, his alma materWest Virginia Universityand to national higher education circles as the former president of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology make him eminently qualified to help us continue to govern the University during an important time of decisionmaking, particularly as we turn our attention to naming an interim president and eventually a national search for a permanent president,Goodwin said.We welcome Dr. Vests inclusion to a Board committed to the future success of WVU .
