The Job Accommodation Network, a West Virginia University-based agency that helps workplaces across the world outfit themselves for their employees with disabilities, is hosting a ranking official from the U.S. Department of Labor Tuesday (June 24).

Neil Romano, the assistant secretary for disability employment policy, will meet with administrators and staffers of the network known as JAN during the visit, which includes a stop at the Morgantown WorkForce West Virginia One-Stop Career Center. Romano is scheduled to tour the facilitiesat 304 Scott Ave.at 9 a.m.

As head of the U.S. Department of Labors Office of Disability Employment Policy, Romano advises the secretary of labor and works with all Department of Labor agencies to lead a comprehensive and coordinated national policy regarding the employment of people with disabilities.

Mr. Romano is a real champion to workers with disabilities, JAN s co-director Lou Orslene said.Thats a segment of the population that has been traditionally underemployed, but Mr. Romanos office is working to change that. Theyve got the energy and the innovations to achieve a fully inclusive work force.

For 25 years, the Job Accommodation Network has provided a free consulting service through the U.S. Department of Labor and its Office of Disability Employment Policy.
