The search committee for the new vice president for Health Sciences at West Virginia University held its first organizational meeting today. Hank Barnette serves as chair.

Two new members were appointed today: E. Jane Martin, interim provost at WVU and former dean of the WVU School of Nursing, and Sandra (Sam) Cotton, WVU School of Nursing. Other members have been previously announced.

The firm of Witt-Kieffer, a premier health executive search firm, has been retained to assist with the search.

The search committee intends to proceed in a timely manner in three phases: organization and assessment, recruitment and then selection. The purpose of the search is to identify, recruit and recommend the best qualified professionals to lead WVU Health Sciences.

The scope of the search is national and international.
