In a race that pit Mountaineer Football Coach Bill Stewart against himself, readers of the SpringWVU Alumni Magazine voted by the slimmest of margins �€1367 to 1364 �€to select the photo of the coach in a monogrammed shirt with rolled up sleeves and a big smile as the preferred magazine cover.

The cover photos, taken by award-winning photographer Greg Ellis, feature the affable coach in this pose along with one of him in a suit and tie with football in hand.

It makes perfect sense,said Executive Editor Dana Coester.When we looked at the photos of Coach Stewart several months back, the editorial board was split on which photo they liked best, so we thought `what the heck�€well print an even number of each and let the readers decide. Apparently, they had as hard a time as we did.

She joked,I guess we could have gotten into election mode and asked some super delegates to help us determine a clear-cut winner.

Individually, they stood on their own in terms of telling the story of Coach Stewarts positive outlook on football and life,Coester said.Im glad we were able to share them both.

Two winners, chosen from a random drawing from each set of votes, will take home personally autographed Bill Stewart Alumni Magazines. The winners are Andy Garretson from Bloomingrose, W.Va., and Ann Stewart from Richmond, Va.

Due to NCAA rules, only those age 20 and over were eligible for prizes, but all ages could participate in the online voting.
