The West Virginia UniversityAlumni Association recently recognized 22 chapters and constituent groups with the inaugural Golden Musket Award for their commitment to service to the association and the University.

The Golden Musket Award was created in 2007 by the Alumni Association to acknowledge the groups that have demonstrated extraordinary service in the areas of scholarship, community service, career/mentoring opportunities, student recruiting and social networking. Chapter leaders were presented with the awards during the 2008 Alumni Leaders Institute held in April in conjunction with the WVU Goldand Blue spring football game.

Our chapters and constituent groups are wonderful advocates for our alma mater, said Stephen L. Douglas, president and CEO of the WVU Alumni Association.More than 50 of our chapters and constituent groups have raised funds for scholarships for students to attend WVU .
