The West Virginia University Chamber Winds, featuring WVU faculty flutist Francesca Arnone, will present a free, public concert Tuesday, April 29.

The 7:30 p.m. event will be in the Gladys G. Davis Theatre at the Creative Arts Center on WVU s Evansdale Campus. It will be conducted by WVU music professor John Weigand.

The program will includeOctet for wind instrumentsby Igor Stravinsky;Concertino for flute solo, chamber winds, pianoby Jonathan Newman; andFanfares Liturgiquesby Henri Tomasi.

The Newman piece premiered last February; this is only its second performance, Weigand said.

WVU students in Chamber Winds include Shelly Borgert and Ruth Miltenberger on flute; Libby Perich and Matthew Ward on oboe; Scott Bartlett, Anne Gruskowski, Jessica Madison and Lacey Wallace on bassoon; Chelsea Cook, Michelle Farr, Wesley Rice and Emily Smallwood on clarinet; and Elizabeth Abelson, Amber Irvin, Lauren Lucas, Meghan Reynolds and Maria Thomas on horn.
