West Virginia University students can learn strategies for landing and getting the most out of their dream internships at the next Faculty Dinner Series event at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, at Hatfields in the Mountainlair.

Andrea Weber, capstone coordinator, instructor and undergraduate adviser in the Department of Communication Studies, will discuss the ins and outs of internships, which can give students a leg up on the competition when it comes time to job hunt.

In addition to teaching and advising, Weber supervises the Communication Studies Professional Field Experience program. She has assisted hundreds of students with the search, application and interview process for internships and first career-track jobs out of college.

The Faculty Dinner Series is part of Experience WVU and the Sophomore/Junior Year Experience, a package of programs and services aimed at helping students have a successful college experience.

The program brings students and faculty together in a comfortable, intimate environment, where they can enjoy complimentary meals and informal conversation with professors, said Sheila Powell with Student Affairs.Sophomores and juniors have the opportunity to learn more about a subject in their particular major or area of interest, listen to our outstanding faculty present on different subjects and spend time with other students with similar interests.

Besides the free dinner and presentation, participants will receive a small gift. WVU sophomores and juniors interested in attending should e-mail kelli.eisentrout@mail.wvu.edu as soon as possible to reserve a spot.

The final spring Faculty Dinner Series presentation, featuring WVU Provost Gerald Lang, is planned for April 8 (details will be announced later).
