The West Virginia University College of Creative Arts is hosting a guest artist recital and two master classes Tuesday, Nov. 27, at the Creative Arts Center on the Evansdale Campus.

The recital will be at 4 p.m. in the Bloch Learning and Performance Hall (Room 200A) and will feature flutist Barbara OBrien and pianist Yeeha Chiu performing works by French, German and American composers. Each artist will also give master classes to current WVU music majors following the recital.

The recital, which is free and open to the public, will include works by Albert Roussel, Benjamin Godard, Paul Jeanjean, Paul Wetzger and Gary Schocker.

OBrien is the principal flutist of the Pittsburgh Opera Orchestra, Wheeling Symphony Orchestra and Renaissance City Winds and the second flutist of the Pittsburgh Ballet Orchestra. She has also appeared with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra as acting second flute to Robert Langevin and acting principal flute.

A graduate of Duquesne University, OBrien has also studied extensively with Marcel Moyse. She has given numerous solo and chamber performances, including appearances as a soloist with the Spoleto Festival Orchestra.

A Steinway Artist, Chiu graduated from the Royal College of Music in London and the Juilliard School in New York City. She performed with the London Philharmonic Orchestra at the historic inauguration of the first concert hall in Hong Kong.

Since making her home in Pittsburgh, Chiu frequently plays with members of the Pittsburgh Symphony and other musicians in the area. During this current season, she will be performing the complete cycle ofTrios for Violin, Cello and Pianoby Ludwig van Beethoven at Chatham College.
