Mary Rose,a play with a very mysterious young lady, will haunt the Gladys G. Davis Theatre stage at West Virginia Universitys Creative Arts Center beginning Wednesday, Nov. 14.

This intriguing and elegant ghost story about a British girl with the odd habit of evaporating and then reappearing will begin at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 14-17 and Nov. 27-30 on the Evansdale Campus. A matinee is also planned for 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2.

In the J.M. Barrie play, Mary Rose is a young bride-to-be engaged to the handsome young seaman, Simon Blake. Her parents, the Morlands, feel duty-bound to tell Simon about an incident that happened when Rose was just 12. While on holiday on an island in Scotland, Rose vanished for 30 days and then returned as if only an hour had passed. She remembers nothing about the lost time.

Themes of immortality, ghosts and spirits, the trials of life, the loss of loved ones and ultimately love run throughMary Roseand many of Barries other plays and stories.

Mary Rosetakes people on a journey, threading its way through nearly 30 years of a familys life, joys, disappointments and mysteries.

Rose herself is at the heart of the mystery, but perhaps she doesnt understand what is really going on as she appears and disappears from that enchanted island in Scotland.
