Doc Watson and David Holts postponedHills of Homeconcert has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 4, at7:30 p.m. at the West Virginia UniversityCreative Arts Center. Tickets purchased for the original Nov. 2 performance will be honored on the new date.
Watson and Holt are hailed as legendary folk singers of the Appalachian life with remarkable storytelling recordings. The duo will play music fromtheir hit CD”Legacy,”the winner of a 2002 Grammy award for Best Traditional Folk Recording. They will also be joined on stage by Watsons grandson, Richard, who has been touring with his grandfather since the late 1980s.
Watson lost his sight as an infant. Despite that, he learned to play guitar and banjo as a teenager, and he went on to becomea six-time Grammy winner and a member of the Bluegrass Hall of Honor.Watsonis best known for his flat-picking technique on guitar. In 1997, he was honored by former President Clinton with the National Medal of the Arts.
Holt is known for his folk music and storytelling recordings, as well as numerous programs on public radio and television.
