As the holidays near, people are making their wish lists. For those in need, these may include soap, shampoo, toothpaste and other personal care items many of us take for granted.

To make sure everyone has the essentials, the West Virginia University Center for Civic Engagement, Raymond Wolfe Center, AmeriCorps and United Way have launched a collection drive in Morgantown and Kingwood.

Items needed include:

  • oral care products: floss, toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash
  • laundry supplies: detergent, dryer sheets, stain remover
  • skin and hair care: lotion, cosmetics, brush and comb, hairspray and hair gel
  • bath products: shampoo, conditioner, soap
  • feminine care products, deodorant, cotton swabs

These are just a few examples of hygiene items needed, but other donations will be accepted, said Brett White with the Center for Civic Engagement.Whether the donation is a non-hygiene item, cash or your time, they are all of value to us.

Between now and Nov. 18, people can drop off donations at the WVU Center for Civic Engagement at 109 White Hall on the WVU Downtown Campus.

Other collection sites include the Raymond Wolfe Center office, 119 South Price St.; Save-A-Lot; the Dollar General Store; Morgans Foodland; Clear Mountain Bank; and the Wal-Mart Supercenterall in Kingwoodand Morgantown businesses.

Donations will be distributed from 9 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. Nov. 21 at the Raymond Wolfe Center in Preston County, White said.
